A Sequence of Events
Week One
Our newborn pupppies are raised inside in a quiet, secure environment. They are born in our quiet nursery room where the Dam feels safe and secure. Our puppies are always helped into this world by Thomas and I. We are right there to ensure that everything goes safely and smoothly. Our vet, Dr. Biggs, is 3 miles from us and on call for emergencies should they arise. Our puppies start ENS training at 3 days old. |
Weeks 2 to 3
The babies eyes start opening at about 10-14 days old. We handle the pups multiple times a day, and keep their nails trimmed weekly. They start walking as early as three weeks of age. Our pups are kept in the nursery until they are 21 days old. They they start venturing out for short spurts into other areas in the home. ENS training continues. |
Weeks 3 to 5
At 4 weeks we are spending more and more time with them outside of the whelping box. In the evenings they are with us in the living room and getting used to the world around them and normal family living. At around 3-4 weeks we start introducing food. The weaning process is begun. At 5 weeks puppy play dates begin. |
